Welcome to Longtown Primary School, part of Cumbria Education Trust, where our philosophy for learning is rooted in the belief that every child should be given the opportunity to be the very best they can be.
We are a nurturing, community-focused school where every child is valued and their unique talents and strengths are celebrated. Our warm, supportive environment encourages children to thrive both academically and personally.
We work in close partnership with parents to ensure school is a positive and rewarding experience. We believe that achievement and enjoyment go hand in hand, and we welcome families into school regularly to celebrate the successes and milestones of our pupils.
During our recent Ofsted inspection, inspectors recognised the significant improvements the school has made since our previous ‘Good’ judgement — a reflection of the dedication of our staff and the enthusiasm of our children.
The staff, children, and governors are all extremely proud of Longtown Primary School and would be delighted to welcome you. If you are a current or prospective parent and would like to arrange a visit, please contact us on 01228 791203. We look forward to showing you all that our wonderful school has to offer.

We are a community orientated, nurturing school where every child is valued and their unique and special gifts are celebrated.
Our school team have chosen the privileged position of working with children because we want to make sure every day counts. We acknowledge the individuality of each child and aim to give every encouragement and opportunity to develop each of their unique abilities.
Our children are at the heart of every decision we make and we hope that, by growing within our school community, our pupils will become citizens who contribute positively to society both in their work and leisure activities. Equally, we work incredibly hard to ensure our children are immersed in fun and laughter, taking part in exciting and interesting experiences and leave primary school with many happy memories.
The staff, children and governors are all extremely proud of Longtown Primary School and are always pleased to show current or prospective parents around so that you can see for yourself what we have on offer. During our 2025 ungraded Ofsted inspection, the inspector concluded that “the school may have improved significantly across all areas.” Therefore, based off the inspector’s comments, if we were to be fully inspected, it is likely each of our ‘Good’ ratings would be upgraded to ‘Outstanding’.

The school builds highly positive relationships with parents and carers from the start of their children’s learning journey. This helps children, including those with SEND, to get off to a flying start in the early years.
